This is my soul sister, Jek. Her name is really Jessica but, we call her Jek, well, Jeky for those who love her. We all went to the same high school but ran in different circles. Photography brought us together about 10 years after we graduated; life is a funny thing. She helped facilitate the first renewal session, even though we didn’t know it at the time.
She’s wild as hell, loves with her whole heart, fights for what she believes in, and kicks ass every day.
She’s also getting married on the 23th and she’s HAND MADE her wedding dress. Can we stop for a second to soak that in? She hand made it. Since we weren’t willing to take the risk wrecking or revealing any part of her wedding dress before the day (good thing too, we got jumped on by a crazy ass, albeit cute, dog on trail) we took photos in her reception dress. This is also a one of a kind piece that she dreamed up. Did I mention that she kicks ass? Her rings are custom made from Sarah Tams. It was amazing to see them in person – they reflect her personality.
When I was trying to find a way to describe these photos and where they took place I couldn’t find an adequate word in English. I took to a more poetic language and found the following: Cynefin (welsh): a place where nature around you feels right and welcoming. The wind and the mountains seemed to be into our shoot and it makes sense because these mountains are our cynefin.
